The Kindest Red

A Story of Hijab and Friendship

In this heart-warming picture book, we are given a wonderful insight into Muslim family life where the Hijab is not object of hot debates, but an everyday object enabling a child to feel part of her family and her community, a family preaching kindness and raising strong women. The Kindest Red is the second book by the first American woman in a Hijab to compete for the United States of America in the Olympic games. This bronze-winning Muslim medallist is an activist, author, and entrepreneur. The main character of the book, Faizah, a young girl around 5 or 6 years old, portrays the same strength of character as the author: she is strong, adventurous and heeds her mother’s words, “You can do and be anything”. On Picture Day she chooses to be kind and is surprised how infectious this superpower is.
